Position Overview
The Division of Biosciences in the College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University is seeking applications for up to two (2) full-time tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor.
Applicants should be engaged in research related to dental, oral, and/or craniofacial biology. While there is particular interest in research areas of craniofacial biology, immunology, and microbiology, excellence in other relevant research areas will also be considered.
The position includes an annual salary and start-up package.
Faculty responsibilities include participation in teaching as an integrated part of a dental curriculum, and in graduate education, and service (i.e. committee service, academic governance, student mentoring, peer review, and outreach initiatives).
Education and Experience Requirements
Required:
- Candidates must have a doctoral degree (i.e., PhD, DMSc, or combination DDS/DMD and PhD);
- Candidates must demonstrate a history of high-quality scientific publications supportive of establishment of an independent research program;
- Candidates must demonstrate a history of sustained research funding or potential to develop and sustain an externally funded research program; and
- Candidates must be engaged in research relevant to dental, oral, or craniofacial biology
Desired:
Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience.

The College
The College of Dentistry (CoD) distinguishes itself nationally by engaging faculty throughout the campus, around the state, and across the country in a host of experiences that provide enriching opportunities. The College of Dentistry is Ohios only state-supported dental school, and it educates more than 60% of the states dentists. Comprised of ten divisions, the college supports nine advanced education programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. In pre-doctoral clinical education, eight small group practice clinics that focus on comprehensive care will provide an ideal environment for dental and dental hygiene students to work in a vertically integrated model for delivering care.
Division Information
Currently, the division consists of more than 30 individuals, including ten (12) faculty members as well as postdoctoral fellows, graduate fellows, research assistants, research associates, research technicians and supporting staff. Together, the members of the division have the objective of providing the highest caliber academic environment for professional dental students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows so that they may be able to conduct research at the forefront of craniofacial and cell sciences. This educational mission is achieved through instruction in integrated courses in molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, immunology and microbiology. All faculty members within the division are engaged in active research programs and are funded by a variety of organizations, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation. Faculty also take pride in providing service to a large and diverse number of local and national committees and professional organizations. Highlights include active roles on multiple study sections at NIH, participation on the editorial boards of several high-profile scientific journals, serving as officers of scientific societies, and numerous scientific presentations throughout the world.
