Professor of Nursing
General Description
A faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College has the primary responsibility of instruction. Secondary service responsibilities include participating in various college activities, including committees, and providing student advisement. The Professor of Nursing is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum at the course level for students enrolled in nursing courses as well as the development of appropriate objectives, test blueprints, and test items.
This position is a Safety Sensitive position and subject to mandatory pre-employment background and drug testing.
Minimum Education/Experience
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Nursing with current enrollment in a Master's in Nursing program. Must complete a minimum of 6 credit hours each fall and spring until degree completed.
Current license to practice and a minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting preceding the first date of first employment as a teacher.
Hold and maintain an active, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oklahoma.

- Basic computer skills, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office or similar software
- Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles
- Committed to helping students achieve his/her goals to be successful and attain a college education
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs used in the department and on campus (such a learning management systems)
- Organization and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers
- Ability to work well as a team member in an instructional unit
- Ability to communicate and articulate concepts in an organized manner both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read and understand content in order to assist students when he/she is having difficulty interpreting concepts
- Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students individually and in groups
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Support and willingness to teach in a competency-based instructional system
- Available to teach day and evening classes
Work Hours
Must be available to work M-F, 8a-5p, some evenings and weekends.
