The Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health, Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences at City University of Hong Kong is recruiting a Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Poultry Health. The incumbent would be expected to teach Poultry Health within the College’s Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) degree programme. The BVM programme is run in collaboration with Cornell University, and the degree gained international dual accreditation with the UK’s Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and with the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council. The Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health consists of a strong multidisciplinary group of researchers and educators whose expertise encompass One Health, an area spanning the health of animals, humans and the environment. Duties
The curriculum of the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine programme at City University of Hong Kong includes a number of courses on Poultry Health. The appointee is expected to contribute to the development and implementation of the professional veterinary curriculum in the area of Poultry Health, foster excellence in veterinary education and research; teach and manage undergraduate and postgraduate courses; develop an independent research programme in poultry health; and carry out administrative work and other service duties to facilitate the development of the Department and the College as a whole.
Requirements
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or an equivalent veterinary degree, preferably registrable in Hong Kong, with evidence of further postgraduate in the form of Diplomate status in a recognised specialty board and/or an advanced degree. A PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. poultry veterinary medicine, poultry nutrition and animal health) or an equivalent qualification is highly preferred.
Applicants must have demonstrable evidence of research success, including a strong publication track record, the ability to obtain research funding, and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of an academic team.
Candidates for the post of Professor should possess a proven record of distinguished scholarly accomplishment including significant external funding support, strong leadership capabilities, and active participation in graduate and undergraduate education. Preference will be given to candidates with background in the field of Poultry Health.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
