Professorship in Public Law, in particular Public Procedural Law 50%

Start of employment 1 August 2027 or by arrangement, permanent employment

We are looking for an individual with an outstanding track record in Swiss constitutional and administrative law, in particular public procedural law. They must be able to carry out teaching and research across these core areas.

The professorship is a part-time position (50% level of employment) and will take the form of an associate or full professorship. An assistant professorship with tenure track is also possible, subject to a corresponding track record. Proof of qualification should be provided in the form of an outstanding dissertation and a completed or in-progress habilitation thesis or an equivalent record of achievement. The level of employment is 50%. There are no explicit plans to increase the level of employment at a later date. We are therefore primarily looking for a person who has a second source of income, for example in legal practice with a focus on procedural law. The successful candidate will be expected to cover the core areas of constitutional and administrative law in their teaching and demonstrate pedagogical skills and experience to this end.

Applicants will be required to have a strong network both nationally and internationally and be able to teach in German and French and/or English.

The future holder of the professorship is furthermore expected to perform the usual tasks of academic, faculty-related and university-related self-administration and to possess the required skills to be able to manage a team of staff.

The University of Zurich is striving to increase the proportion of under-represented groups – in particular women – in its research and teaching staff, and therefore explicitly encourages applications from such candidates.

Further information is available here.

Please submit your application documents by 27 April 2026.
