This type of appointment is not approved to work more than 999 hours per year for all positions combined. Should incumbents work more than a total of 999 hours in a year the appointment may not continue beyond one year of service.
Accountabilities
Serving as an administrative assistant to the Director of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS), the Program Coordinator oversees event planning and operations for the Center for Women's Studies. The Center and the WGSS Program work together to create knowledge and greater awareness across campus on issues related to gender and sexuality studies, using an intersectional lens to study and address historical, campuswide, national and international issues. The WGGS Program, established in the 1980s, is housed at The Center and is an interdisciplinary program that draws upon the expertise and strengths of faculty in a variety of departments across divisions. The Center for Women's Studies and the WGSS Program have a mutually beneficial and collaborative relationship that accentuates one another's strengths. The Program Coordinator for WGSS serves as a key nexus between the two. The Program Coordinator also forges strong ties with the Office of Equity and Diversity, particularly during the summer months when the Program Coordinator works on projects and initiatives that foster a diverse and inclusive Colgate community.
The Program Coordinator assists the Director of WGSS in academic and Center programming, including the weekly brown bag series. This long-standing, popular series invites to campus scholars and activists engaged in cutting-edge work in the interdisciplinary field of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies; it also incorporates presentations by Colgate faculty, staff and students on new research, local and global activist initiatives, and important social issues on campus, nationally, and…
