8:30am - 5:00pm (academic year)
8:00am - 4:30pm (summer)
Hours may vary based on operational needs.

Job Description:

The Syracuse University Institute for Sustainability Engagement (ISE) is seeking a program coordinator to support program outreach, in-person and virtual event delivery, educational content development, and program tracking/monitoring for water and sustainability programming. The assistant will work across multiple sponsored projects that provide training, research, and technical assistance to water sector stakeholders including municipal staff, utility managers, and industry representatives. The coordinator will participate in strategic efforts to coordinate events, outreach, and support development across ISEs Environmental Finance Center and a national network of environmental finance organizations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong writing skills, initiative, communication skills, and attention to detail.

This is part time: 35hrs/week

This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.

Education and Experience:

  • Masters degree in public administration, environmental systems and sciences, environmental studies, or related field

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrates ability to actively listen to and understand community priorities, concerns, and cultural context, and accurately document needs and preferences to inform project design and decision-making processes.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create engaging content for various communication channels.
  • Excellent facilitation and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all communications.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate trainings, roundtables, and events

  • Coordinate the Environmental Finance Centers flagship Funding Roundtable series (3-4 events per year)
  • Engage community leaders, elected officials, agency representatives, and regional partners in training development and design (virtual and in-person)
  • Coordinate event logistics including venue identification and communication
  • Coordinate with program associates and managers on event marketing and outreach

Coordinate, provide, and monitor technical assistance

  • Track and respond to technical assistance requests across water infrastructure programs
  • Conduct technical assistance intake consultations
  • Facilitate tracking, measuring, and monitoring of technical assistance processes
  • Provide direct technical assistance on funding application development and partnership
  • Support program evaluation
  • Support technical assistance meeting logistics including site visit coordination, communications, follow-up, and facilitation of virtual meetings

Develop technical products and resources

  • Support research, writing, and development of technical products and resources related to sponsored projects, including project reports, briefs, and conference presentations.
  • Present program findings at relevant events and conferences
  • Establish relationships and identify synergies with potential partners and thought leaders

Support partnership development efforts needed for successful program implementation

  • Conduct outreach to relevant industry groups, associations, agencies, or other groups working across the water and sustainability sectors
  • Support fund development activities including grant writing, foundations research, and partnership building
