About the Blavatnik School of Government

Our vision is of a world better led, a world better served and a world better governed. We are a global school committed to improving the quality of government and public policymaking worldwide, through three routes: teaching current and future leaders; generating research with impact; and engaging with governments and practitioners.

What we offer

The School is a collaborative, friendly, and dynamic department based in an award-winning building in Oxford. We host regular events and talks with well-known guest speakers – all of which are open to staff. On the social side, we have regular coffee/cake mornings for staff, a family-friendly Halloween event, and Christmas and summer parties.

As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:

  • An excellent contributory pension scheme
  • 38 days’ annual leave
  • Family leave schemes and a comprehensive range of childcare services
  • Cycle loan scheme and discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans
  • Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs
  • Opportunities for remote working.

About the role

The Oxford Climate Policy Hub is seeking a Project Officer to support the development of the Oxford Climate Policy Monitor and the wider goals of the Hub. The Hub is a collaboration between the Blavatnik School of Government and the Oxford Sustainable Law Programme, and forms part of the University’s Oxford Net Zero strategic cluster. Combining expertise in law, political economy, climate science, finance, ethics, and economics, the Hub monitors and advances best practice in climate governance and regulation for net zero.

Based at the Blavatnik School of Government and reporting to the Programme’s Principal Investigators, the postholder will manage the Programme’s day-to-day financial and administrative activities, oversee project management, co-ordinate meetings and events, and support communications, funding applications, and reporting. The successful candidate will be educated to undergraduate level or above, with strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, alongside experience in budget management and financial reporting.

About You

You hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as economics, development studies, political science, geography, law, or public policy. You have excellent project management skills, with the ability to deliver complex programmes on time, on budget, and to a high standard, alongside strong organisational and time management skills and exceptional attention to detail.

You bring outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. You demonstrate diplomacy, tact, discretion, and initiative, along with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving processes. You are flexible, self-motivated, resilient, and adaptable to changing priorities, with experience in developing funding proposals and managing budgets, including financial reporting and compliance.
