PS Genetic Counselor
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Genetic Counselor. This position is responsible for providing information and support to families who have members with birth defects, genetic disorders or who may be at risk for a variety of inherited cardiac conditions. The care provider identifies, investigates, interprets, and communicates potential risk factors and provides support and counseling to families and care team members. This job has both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- Utilizes specific, detailed knowledge of genetics and acts as a consultant with applicable patient care specialists and referring care providers in providing professional options for the development of a collaborative plan of care.
- Desire to work in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Evaluates complex medical and genetic literature and incorporates it into clinical practice.
- Provide clinical genetic counseling and care coordination within a busy genetics clinic staffed with a geneticist twice monthly.
- Oversees and/or answers questions regarding genetic testing and counseling consultations, as directed by the Division of Pediatric Cardiology.
- Desire to work within a collaborative, motivated team where responsibilities, roles, and patients are shared by genetic counseling team members.
- Will engage in research activities related to the field of cardiovascular genetics and genetic counseling.
- Desire to engage in CV genetics program growth and development of operations and procedures to support the growing need for genetics within the division of cardiology.
- Support and display equitable care to all patient groups and develop care models that increase genetic counseling and testing equity.
Minimum Qualifications
Required: Current license as a Genetic Counselor in the State of Utah. Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program or equivalency.
Preferred: Licensure to practice in a clinical field. American Board of Genetic Counseling Certification.
