Utah Tech University (UT) seeks a detail-oriented, collaborative part-time Human Resources (HR) Specialist to support HR initiatives, projects, and operational activities across multiple HR functional areas. This role works with moderate independence to assist HR Administration with process improvement, training coordination, project management, and administrative support.
P/T Human Resources Assistant
Utah Tech University (UT) seeks a detail-oriented, dependable part-time Human Resources (HR) Assistant to provide administrative and clerical support across HR functional areas. This entry-level role assists the HR Specialist and HR Leadership with day-to-day tasks, recordkeeping, and logistics support for HR programs and projects, working under regular guidance and direction.
This position will be filled at either the Human Resources Assistant or Human Resources Specialist level, depending on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. Responsibilities
Specialist Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist HR Administration with HR initiatives, strategic priorities, and special projects
- Plan, coordinate, and help execute HR initiatives and special projects
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and timelines
- Support the implementation of new HR programs, tools, or systems
- Document HR processes, workflows, and procedures
- Review and recommend improvements to HR policies and operational processes
- Maintain HR documentation, including policies, procedures, and templates
- Support compliance with employment regulations and internal policies
- Collect, analyze, and report HR data and basic analytics
- Develop and coordinate employee training sessions, workshops, and learning programs, materials, and/or documentation
- Track training participation and maintain training records
- Draft employee communications and HR announcements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Assistant Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative and clerical support to the HR team
- Assist with scheduling meetings, training sessions, and workshops
- Help prepare, format, and proofread HR documents, templates, and communications
- Enter and update data in HR systems and spreadsheets
- Maintain and organize HR files and records and assist in requests for records
- Assist with distributing employee communications and HR announcements
- Provide support for events, trainings, etc., and maintain related records
- Assist with mailings, copying, scanning, and other clerical HR support tasks
- Support special projects with tasks such as data entry, filing, and document preparation as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- For Specialist - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) For Assistant - High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or coursework toward a Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- For Specialist - Three or more years of HR experience. For Assistant - Two years of office administrative or HR-related experience
- For Specialist - Familiarity with HR processes, documentation, and compliance requirements. For Assistant - Basic familiarity with HR concepts and confidentiality requirements preferred but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace; HRIS experience preferred for Specialist position
- For Specialist - Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a part-time capacity. For Assistant - Ability to follow instructions, work under general supervision, and manage routine tasks in a part-time capacity.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Part-time hourly staff position, flexible schedule (20 hours per week). Starting hourly rate of $21.50/hr for Specialist and $15.50/hr for Assistant position.
