Radiochemist to a Well Renowned PET Facility (in a collaboration with AstraZeneca)
Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?
The Department of Clinical Neuroscience (CNS) conducts research and education in neuroscience from the molecular to the societal level. We are seeking a motivated, results-driven organic chemist to join the positron emission tomography (PET) group led by Prof. Andrea Varrone at Karolinska Institutet (KI) to support the development of radiotracer molecules for both clinical and preclinical PET studies.
Your mission
Positron emission tomography (PET) is a non-invasive molecular imaging technique that is increasingly used in biomedical research and drug development. A fundamental prerequisite for PET is the radioactive tracer molecule used in the emission measurement, which can be engineered with exceptional specificity to enable research into entirely new aspects of human physiology in vivo. There is a significant unmet need for new PET tracers, and your contributions will be vital in supporting the PET group at Karolinska Institutet in their development.
We offer an opportunity to join a highly engaged team operating at the interface of academic and industrial research as part of a broad collaboration between the PET Group at Karolinska Institutet and AstraZeneca. Your responsibilities will include developing new radiochemistry methods, labeling novel radiotracers, and producing tracers for both preclinical and clinical PET studies.
Your profile
We are seeking a skilled and motivated chemist with a university degree in organic chemistry (or an equivalent field) and a strong interest in life sciences. Experience in the research or production of 68Ga- and 18F-labeled tracers is advantageous but not required. Solid knowledge of analytical chemistry and associated techniques such as HPLC, GC, and LC-MS is also desirable.
Work within the KI PET group takes place in a highly collaborative environment that brings together professionals from multiple disciplines. Strong collaboration and coordination skills are therefore essential. In addition, proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required.
What do we offer?
A creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests. Karolinska Institutet is one of the world's leading medical universities. Our vision is to pursue the development of knowledge about life and to promote a better health for all. At Karolinska Institutet, we conduct successful medical research and hold the largest range of medical education in Sweden. Karolinska Institutet is also a state university, which entitles you to several good benefits through our collective agreement. And you get to practice freely in our modern wellness facilities, where trained staff are on site.
