The Brighton Center for Specialty Care is the newest University of Michigan Ambulatory Care facility dedicated to providing high quality health care services for adults and children. The new 2-story facility is located at 7500 Challis Rd. Brighton MI. We are actively seeking compassionate, enthusiastic, and patient-focused individuals who will share in the goal of crafting the ideal experience for our patients, families and employees.
- Provide nursing care to patients in our specialty suites with primary support to our adult urology clinic (however not limited to)
- Provide direct nursing care including but not limited to medication administration, urinary catheter exchanges, bladder instillations, voiding trials, medication preparation for procedure, direct support during clinic procedures, FUDS support, post-op visit support, treatment education, and patient education. Position also includes inbasket support needs for urology patients
- Work closely with support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations including but not limited to patient rooming, lab specimen collection/ documentation, and inventory/ organization of clinic medications, supplies and instruments.
- In collaboration with medical providers, manage and act upon in-basket folders including but not limited to triage, appointment requests, prescription refills, lab monitoring, surgical clearance and lab results/monitoring, DME and patient equipment supply needs.
- Support patients/visitors having a medical emergency within our specialty suite.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
Minimum of 3 years (within the past 5 years) of experience with the adult urologic patient population
Minimum of 1 year (within the past 3 years) of ambulatory care experience within the surgical clinic setting

- Experience with urology procedures including but not limited to: FUDS, catheter changes, bladder instillations
Salary & Nursing Framework Level: This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C. Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire. Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

- Hours per week: 40 hrs. per week
- Shift/ Days/ Hours: Flexibility in scheduling is required. Variable day shift; Monday- Friday day shift. May include evenings or weekends based on clinic needs and future expansion.
- Location: Brighton Center for Specialty Care. Primary work location will be at Brighton Center for Specialty Care with potential to provide clinic support across all urology clinics.
- Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
