Research Assistant (Bioinformatics/Statistics)

This is a fixed-term post until 31 December 2026 with a possibility for extension.

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant with expertise in bioinformatics and mathematics to join the group of Professor George Vassiliou at the University of Cambridge Department of Haematology and Cambridge Stem Cell Institute (CSCI).

The Vassiliou Group is a large multi-disciplinary lab with a strong track record in studies of myeloid malignancy, clonal haematopoiesis and telomere biology. The group makes strong use of in vivo and in vitro modelling, genomic screening, functional assays and computational approaches including machine learning.

As a Research Assistant with a strong bioinformatic and mathematical skillset, you will be analysing datasets from large cohorts like Our Future Health and the UK Biobank to investigate clonal haematopoiesis and improve our understanding of blood cancer prediction and prevention.

You will have at least a degree in mathematics or related subject and excellent coding and/or informatics skills. Prior expertise in using large scale datasets, such as Our Future Health and the UK Biobank will be an advantage. Attention to detail, flexibility, the ability to prioritise and excellent interpersonal skills are essential.

Fixed-term: the post is available until December 2026.
