Job Description

Duke-NUS Medical School (Duke-NUS) was established through a landmark collaboration between two world-class institutions; Duke University and National University of Singapore, with the objective of providing innovative education and impactful research that enhance the practice of medicine in Singapore and beyond.

The Centre of Regulatory Excellence (CoRE), established at Duke-NUS in 2014, aims to advance regulatory science and health policy in the Asia-Pacific, focusing on South-East Asia. It offers a highly regarded education portfolio for industry professionals and regulators. CoRE also plays a pivotal role in promoting thought leadership, driving policy innovation in health product regulation, global health, and addressing challenges in health systems and regulatory frameworks. Its key focus areas encompass digital health, vaccines & pandemic preparedness, advanced & innovative therapeutics, innovative clinical trials, and medical devices.

The selected candidate would be actively involved in expanding research initiatives of the Centre in health products and health services regulations. CoRE has embarked on a collaborative project with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Health Sciences Authority (HSA) of Singapore focusing on regulatory systems strengthening through horizon scanning and the identification, assessment, and prioritisation of new and emerging health technologies. He/She will support a variety of research, management and capacity building activities that will build a regional repository of best practices in healthcare regulation, facilitate early awareness of technological trends, and support evidence-based decision-making for healthcare policy and resource allocation.

The primary tasks will include but not limited to the following:

  • Conduct horizon scannning, literature reviews, data collection, and analysis on emerging health technologies and global regulatory practices.
  • Coordinate and facilitate expert meetings, workshops, and collaborative activities with regional and international partners.
  • Prepare reports, policy briefs, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including regional experts and policymakers.
  • Contribute to identifying, researching, writing on new regulatory policies, best practices and benchmarks for the respective topics.
  • Contribute to the design of suitable research studies to identify the gaps, challenges and opportunities of the health products and health services regulations.
  • Contribute to the publication/presentation of research outcomes and recommendations.
  • Support the delivery and execution of research programme across multiple projects. This include supporting collaborative efforts with global, regional and stakeholders, and managing timelines for key outputs and deliverables.
  • Support administrative tasks related to project management and documentation.
  • Work with Executive Director, Deputy Director of CoRE, and partners to ensure programmes and initiatives are accomplished in an effective and efficient manner, while adhering to all legislative, policy, procedural and scientific guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein, including contributing to occasional educational/instructional activities and organisation of activties such as conferences and roundtables.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Public Health, Global Health, Public Policy or other related disciplines, with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
