Research Assistant (Department of Materials Science and Engineering)
Job Description
The successful candidate will work with Prof Barbaros Oezyilmaz and Dr Toh Chee Tat on lab support, sample preparation and characterization under a project on Synthesis and application of atomically thin amorphous materials on the surface of 2D semiconductors as a protective and seed layers for other.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
1. Synthesis of multilayer MAC films on the surface of 2D crystals, insulators and other substrates. Their analysis by Raman spectroscopy, AFM, Ellipsometry.
2. Test of the application of ML-AC as a seed layer for ALD grown insulators.
3. Perform impedance spectroscopy to probe dielectric properties of dielectrics deposited on the surface of MAC.
4. Data analysis and physical interpretation of the results.
5. Manage lab safety, equipment maintenance and operations.
6. Meet key deliverables for industry collaboration.
Qualifications
- Qualifications / Discipline: Bachelor's or Master's degree in materials science, microelectronics, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong verbal communication skills in English, ability to solve problems and generate new ideas
- Experience:
1. First-hand experience with operation and maintenance of CVD reactors and vacuum systems
2. Experience with electronics and the use of clean room is desirable
