Research Assistant (Dept of Physiology)

Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant for “Novel Therapeutics for Genetic Epileptic Encephalopathies.” in the Healthy Longevity TRP, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Appointments will be made on a 12 months contract basis.

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator to conduct the experiments and analyze and present data.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Assistant (RA) will liaise with relevant hospital personnel to facilitate participant recruitment and data collection and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator (PI). The RA will be responsible for the following:

  1. Overseeing the general day-to-day management of the research project.
  2. Drafting and coordinating submissions to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
  3. Performing tissue culture and molecular biology experiments.
  4. Conducting patch-clamp electrophysiology experiments.

Qualifications

The successful applicant should meet the following criteria:

a. Possess a bachelor’s degree with good academic standing (B.Sc. or equivalent) in life sciences or a related discipline.
b. Have hands-on experience with rodent models, cell culture, and molecular biology techniques.
c. Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, with strong investigative skills and attention to detail.
d. Be proficient in common computer applications, including Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
