Council with reference no. UGC/FDS15/H16/24, Prof Kung Wong, LAU from the Department of Applied Data Science, Hong Kong Shue Yan University will conduct a two-year research project entitled “Understanding the Elderly-computer Interaction (ECI) in Social-Virtual Reality Applications: An Exploratory Study of the Semiotic-driven Approach and Post-experiment User Enquiry”. The Department now seeks to appoint a high-calibre candidate for the position of Full-time Research Assistant for the project. The primary responsibilities will include assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) in setting up the Virtual Reality (VR) instrument, conducting research design, and collecting and analyzing data during experiments, surveys, and other documentary tasks.

Research Assistant

The major responsibilities of the appointee will be:

• Assist in building virtual environments and platforms

• Liaise with participants

• Support project events

• Compile research reports and other deliverables

• Prepare the final project report

• Perform other research and administrative duties as assigned by the project team.

Requirements

Applicants should possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree, preferably with some research/project management experience;

• Proficiency in Unity, Unreal and/or Blender engines;

• Good command of both written and spoken English, Chinese;

• Mature, self-motivated, able to work independently and meet tight deadlines;

The appointment commences on 1st Jan 2025 to 31st December 2026. The remuneration package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
