Research Assistant (Human Potential TRP)

Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant for “Learning about Our behavior is Valuable for Increasing Nurturing relationships and healthy Growth (LOVING)”in the Medicine Dean's Office, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

The LOVING project is a large-scale intervention study evaluating two evidence-based parenting programs (VIPP-SD-SingH and CARE-SD) compared with an active control (Neuroeducation for Parents). The study involves 624 Singaporean families with children aged 2–5 years from very-low to median income backgrounds.

The project examines the feasibility, acceptability, and implementation of both in-person and digitally delivered parenting interventions. It includes qualitative interviews and self-report data from parents and home-interveners across structured program sessions, with a focus on culturally adapted, scalable approaches to supporting positive parenting and child development in Singapore.

Appointments will be made on a 12-month contract (Full-time) basis with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the pilot and trial phases on time.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Assistant will liaise closely with the LOVING study team to support participant recruitment and scheduling, and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator. The Research Assistant will:

  1. Support the recruitment of participants through approved recruitment channels
  2. Serve as the primary point of contact for participating families, responding to enquiries in a timely manner and professional manner
  3. Coordinate and schedule study visits and assessments with families, taking into account participant availability and study requirements
  4. Maintain accurate records of recruitment progress, participant contact, and scheduling information
  5. Assist with basic data entry and administrative tasks related to recruitment and scheduling
  6. Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines, confidentiality requirements, and study procedures when communicating with participants
  7. Assist with other administrative or research support duties of a similar nature as delegated by the Principal Investigator

Qualifications

The applicant should:

a) Hold a Bachelor's degree

b) Have prior experience working with parents and young children in a professional and/or relevant personal capacity

c) Be organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks and schedules effectively

d) Demonstrate good communication skills and attention to detail

e) Be personable, compassionate, and comfortable engaging with families

f) Possess good self-management skills and be flexible with working hours to accommodate participant availability

g) Have conversational fluency in at least one mother tongue (highly preferred) as you may be required to liaise with participants who only speak their mother tongue

h) Prior experience in participant recruitment, scheduling, or administrative support for research studies will be an advantage
