Research Assistant I/II/III/IV
Overview
The College of Veterinary Medicine seeks candidates for a Research Assistant I/II/III/IV. This position will assist researchers in planning, maintaining or completing research programs and/or projects involved in the discovery of new knowledge, techniques, and concepts which require fundamental scientific/research knowledge, skills and abilities following relevant policies, procedures, regulations and laws.
Responsibilities
- Performs mouse colony management.
- Performs mouse genotyping on various transgenic strains.
- Harvests mouse brain tissue and performs histological processing and analysis.
- Record and analyze data from behavioral experiments with mice, such as analyzing sleep/wake states based on EEG data.
- Assists with running behavioral experiments with mice, such as the Morris Water maze or Object Recognition test.
- Maintains lab routines and ordering supplies.
- Prepares data and graphs for presentation.
- Assists in the development of research proposals, plans and protocols.
- Conducts routine or fundamental experiments, investigations and/or studies related to programs and projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts.
- May instruct students and/or supervise others' research in area of expertise.
Qualifications
Level I: Bachelor's degree in a related field -no experience required.
Level II: Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 years of experience in research practices and protocols relevant to the position.
Level III: Bachelor's degree in a related field and 4 years of experience in research practices and protocols relevant to the position.
Level IV: Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6 years of experience in research practices and protocols relevant to the position
