Job Description

NUS Cities at the College of Design and Engineering is recruiting a full-time Research Assistant to join a research project to investigate the relationship between natural environment, perceptions and affordances, and motivations to use for health promotion purposes. The contract will be for 18 months with possible extension subject to funding availability.

Job scope:

  1. To undertake high-quality research in human and nature relationship for health promotion.
  2. To conduct systematic reviews relevant to human and nature relationship for health promotion.
  3. To conduct spatial study (field, desktop) and social studies (e.g., surveys, photo elicitation, focus groups).
  4. To manage and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
  5. To contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
  6. To support the overall coordination of the research project.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's with honours or master's degree in landscape studies, urban studies, environmental psychology, or other relevant disciplines.
  2. Ability to write and communicate in English as the candidate will need to publish papers in English journal.
  3. Have some experience conducting quantitative research (e.g., survey data collection, spatial analysis particularly in relation to urban spaces) and qualitative research (e.g., photo elicitation, focus groups).
  4. Experience in data management and analysis using geospatial software (e.g., QGIS) and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, or Phyton).
  5. Ability to work independently, demonstrate a good organisational skill.
