Research Assistant, Office of Community Engaged
Position Purpose:
Coordinate programs and events for the Community Engaged Research initiatives. Provides scientific and technical assistance to complete population and public health research conducted within the Community Engagement Core (CEC). Collaborates with the Data Management and Analytics Core (DMAC) on Population Health Outcomes Information Exchange (PHOENIX) research data activities. Supports the development of research infrastructure and delivers training to enhance community stakeholder engagement across the research continuum. Assists with the design and implementation of research protocols and related project activities.
Essential Functions:
Supports community relations initiatives and activities through project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and administrative support for the Community Engagement Team. Maintains and strengthens community partnerships by facilitating meetings and contributing to the education and training of community engagement strategies and best practices. Develops and sustains collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to support project-related activities and organizational goals. Assists with program administration, including fiscal oversight and monitoring progress toward program objectives. Contributes to the establishment and coordination of Community Review Board activities, including implementation of ethical review processes that promote accountability and integrity in research. Provides support for fund development efforts, fundraising activities, community events, and related outreach initiatives.
Conducts clinical and population-based human subjects research in collaboration with community stakeholders and research teams. Coordinates and facilitates meetings with community partners to support engagement and project implementation. Recruits study participants through survey development, outreach, and participant interviews. Contributes to the execution of research objectives while ensuring compliance with institutional, regulatory, and protocol requirements. Provides support to research staff with study protocols, data collection activities, and overall project coordination.
Collect and log laboratory results, clinical outcomes and/or survey data. Evaluate and perform data analysis using graphs, charts, or tables to highlight the key points of the research results collected in accordance with the research protocols as stipulated. Proofread and edit research data and documents to ensure accuracy. Conduct and code qualitative interviews with study participants and community members.
Assist with writing methods and summarizing/organizing data to be used in preparing and presenting presentations for community presentations, professional, scientific, and academic conferences, and submittal to academic and scholarly peer-reviewed journals.
Provide support with research program follow up phone calls, distribution of participant ClinCards, creation of requisitions for research purchases in WayneBuy, and correspondence with participants, community advisory boards and stakeholders.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in a related field of study, preferred.
Experience: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience). Experience with community engagement techniques, facilitation, and management. Experience performing basic research techniques or interacting with human subjects, preferred. Basic understanding of grant writing, grant research and budget justification preferred.
