Job Description

The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) is a policy research think‑tank in Singapore. IPS is looking to hire a Research Assistant for the Policy Lab to work on ongoing research studies on community empowerment, citizen participation, and collaborative governance in Singapore. The incumbent will have the opportunity to acquire critical research skills, gain field experience and knowledge working with diverse populations, and benefit from exposure to intellectual exchange and networking.

Programme Implementation & Administration

  • Support implementation of incubation runs (at neighbourhood and HQ)
  • Assist in community needs and asset mapping
  • Liaison and coordination with partner organisations and stakeholders (e.g. advisors, social enterprises, incubators), including secretariat work for a Network of Inclusive and Community Enterprises
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, and timelines across phases
  • Support presentations, workshops, and stakeholder engagements

Research & Evaluation

  • Recruitment and management of undergraduate student researchers
  • Support design of research tools (surveys, interviews, case studies)
  • Support collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Support research administration (e.g. documentation, coordination, reporting)
  • Support evaluation of incubation programme and document case studies
  • Support final evaluation and reporting, including any publications arising from the research
  • Co-author reports and policy outputs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in business, economics or related fields
  • Strong research, writing, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and track progress against milestones
  • Interest in community development and inclusive economic models
  • Ability to engage diverse stakeholders

Valued:

  • Experience in programme evaluation or applied research
  • Familiarity with social enterprises, cooperatives, or incubation programmes
  • Proficiency in tools such as NVivo, R, or SPSS
