Research Assistant/Research Associate (Fixed Term)
We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate in computational genomics and long-read transcriptomics to join the Gustavsson Group at the UK Dementia Research Institute at the University of Cambridge.
The post is fixed term for 2 years and funded by the UK Dementia Research Institute.
The major purpose of this postdoctoral position is to develop, apply and integrate computational approaches for long-read DNA and RNA sequencing, with a focus on transcript isoform discovery, alternative splicing, genetic variation and multi-omics integration in neurodegenerative disease.
The role will be primarily computational, working with long-read, short-read, single-cell and spatial transcriptomic data. The successful candidate will develop reproducible analysis workflows; analyse long-read RNA and DNA sequencing data; integrate genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic datasets; and work with collaborators to interpret how transcript diversity and genetic variation contribute to Parkinson's disease, dementia and related neurodegenerative disorders. Candidates with backgrounds in bioinformatics, computational biology, human genetics, statistical genetics, cancer genomics, multi-omics, or related areas are encouraged to apply, particularly where they have experience translating large-scale genomic data into biological insight.
For informal enquiries regarding the role, contact Dr Emil Gustavsson at eg713@cam.ac.uk. The role will be based at the UK DRI, Island Research Building, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, CB2 0AH.
