Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance. A Research Assistant/Research Associate position is available immediately to work on electronic devices based on two-dimensional semiconductors. The project, which is funded by the EPSRC CLINFERRO, will involve synthesis, characterisation and fabrication of devices based on two-dimensional semiconductors such as MoS2 and other transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). Applicants should have experience in device fabrication and measurements. Applicants should also have experience in characterisation of ferroelectric material. We will also consider candidates who have experience in making good metal/semiconductor and dielectric/semiconductor interfaces for electronic devices. Candidates with experience in making devices such as ferroelectric FETs and ferroelectric diodes are encouraged to apply. Overall responsibilities will include managing a research project, generating high quality data and developing scientific techniques. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute intellectually to the direction of the research on low power electronics within the project. It is expected that they will present their data locally at group meetings and seminars, and more widely at international scientific conferences. They will be expected to draft scientific manuscripts and to contribute to day-to-day supervision of Masters or PhD students. The successful applicant will hold a PhD, or be near completion of a PhD, in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related area. They will be able to demonstrate skills in data presentation, both verbally and in writing. They will be committed to collaborative and interdisciplinary research and be able to demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will work in the 2D Materials and Devices Group under the supervision of Professor Manish Chhowalla and Dr Yan Wang. Successful candidates who have not yet received their PhD will be employed on University Grade 5 SP038 (£34,610 per annum) as Research Assistants. Upon being awarded their PhD, their salary will be upgraded to Grade 7 041 (£37,694 per annum) as Research Associates.
