Research Assistant

The research technician will work closely with members of the tree fruit group in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, particularly the apple program.

Responsibilities will include the following:

• Executes planned research activities using observation, measurement, and analytical techniques in greenhouse and orchard;
• prepares research log sheets and maintains records in greenhouse and orchard;
• enters, consolidates and tabulates research data for analysis;
• performs library research on specified topics;
• performs propagation of plant material, harvest fruit and perform general plant maintenance activities.

Required minimum qualifications: A high school diploma or GED and minimum of 1 year of demonstrated experience required in work in field and greenhouse.

Preferred minimum qualifications: A BS or equivalent degree in horticulture or related field and 1-2 years of demonstrated experience required in work in field and greenhouse.
