Period of employment and remuneration: 12 months (1 February 2027 – 31 January 2028), with the possibility of extension up to 36 months.
Remuneration: Employment in accordance with the provisions of the Polish Labour Code and the Law on Higher Education and Science. The remuneration package includes a basic salary plus supplementary remuneration (approximately PLN 9,200 gross per month for a 0.5 FTE position), a seniority allowance, an additional annual salary (“13th salary”), and participation in the Employee Capital Plan (PPK).
Position description:
The person employed in this position will participate in the design, fabrication, and modification of functional membranes, their comprehensive characterization, and the evaluation of their transport and separation properties.
An important part of the project will involve the application of the developed membranes in metal recovery and recycling processes, as well as in electromembrane processes, particularly electrodialysis, reverse electrodialysis, and systems related to energy conversion and hydrogen generation.
The work will include conducting laboratory experiments, analyzing and interpreting results, optimizing membrane processes, preparing reports, and contributing to the preparation of scientific publications.

Responsibilities:
- preparation and modification of polymeric, composite, ion-exchange, and other functional membranes;
- optimization of membrane composition and fabrication conditions;
- functionalization of membrane materials to achieve the required selectivity and transport properties;
- physicochemical, structural, mechanical, and electrochemical characterization of the obtained membranes;
- evaluation of membrane transport properties, including permeability, selectivity, ionic conductivity, and stability;
- investigation of the effects of membrane composition and process conditions on separation performance;
- conducting experiments related to the separation, recovery, and recycling of metals from model and real solutions;
- investigation of selective transport of metal ions and their concentration and recovery potential;
- conducting and optimizing electromembrane processes, including electrodialysis;
- conducting research using reverse electrodialysis (RED) systems and evaluating the potential for energy recovery from salinity gradients;
- investigation of parameters affecting the performance of electromembrane processes, such as solution composition, concentration gradient, voltage, current, membrane resistance, and hydrodynamic conditions;
- participation in the design and operation of systems related to energy conversion and hydrogen generation;
- evaluation of the energy and process efficiency of the investigated systems;
- assessment of membrane durability and reusability;
- analysis and interpretation of experimental results;
- maintaining laboratory documentation;
- preparation of reports on the conducted research;
- presentation of results in the form of tables, graphs, and comparative summaries;
- participation in the preparation of manuscripts for scientific publications;
- participation in presenting research results at seminars, conferences, and project meetings;
- systematic review of scientific literature related to the project topic.
Specific Requirements
Requirements:
- completed Master’s degree or equivalent in chemistry, chemical technology, chemical engineering, materials engineering, environmental protection, or a related field;
- basic knowledge of materials chemistry, separation processes, or membrane technologies;
- laboratory experience gained during a Master’s thesis, internship, research project, or laboratory work;
- basic knowledge of methods for the preparation, modification, or characterization of materials;
- ability to independently conduct laboratory experiments;
- ability to analyze and interpret experimental results;
- willingness to work with membrane and electrochemical systems;
- willingness to learn new membrane characterization methods and electromembrane processes;
- ability to search for and analyze scientific literature;
- proficiency in English sufficient to use scientific literature and prepare scientific texts;
- accuracy, reliability, and responsibility in laboratory work;
- good organizational skills;
- ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
- strong motivation to conduct scientific research and pursue a PhD degree;
- experience in membrane preparation or modification;
- knowledge of ion-exchange, polymeric, or composite membranes;
- experience in separation or membrane processes;
- basic knowledge of electrodialysis, reverse electrodialysis, or other electromembrane processes;
- experience in studies of ion transport through membranes;
- basic knowledge of electrochemistry;
- experience in metal recovery, separation, or recycling;
- experience working with solutions containing metal ions;
- knowledge of materials characterization techniques such as FTIR, SEM, XRD, TGA/DSC, contact angle measurements, conductivity measurements, or electrochemical techniques;
- basic knowledge of energy conversion, hydrogen technologies, or energy recovery from salinity gradients;
- experience in the analysis and visualization of experimental data;
- participation in research projects, conferences, internships, or student research groups;
- knowledge of scientific software, including MATLAB and Origin;
- scientific publications will be considered an additional advantage but are not required.
