Research Associate

The College of Pharmacy is seeking an individual to lead the community engagement component of the Shiyanbola lab's research projects. You will:
- Help develop, design, and conduct projects according to the research plan and protocols.
- Collaborate in the development of new research processes including study recruitment, retention, etc.
- Record research procedures and inclusion of study participants, community partners and collaborative organization partners.
- Engage in planning for recruitment for data collection including interviews, focus groups, and co-design sessions.
- Have oversight of day-to-day operation of project logistics related to recruitment, retention, and maintenance of collaborative relationships with community organizations.
50% - Conduct research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collect data and monitor test results.
30% - Identify, develop, establish, and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations and research partners including community organizations, foundations, pharmacies, churches, community centers, senior centers, and clinics, to promote study participation.
10% - Review, analyze, and interpret data and/or documents, results for presentations, and/or reporting to internal and external audiences.
5% - Operate, clean, and maintain organization of research equipment and research area. Track inventory levels and place replenishment orders.
5% - Provide operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with project management, research outreach, research data collection, and community engagement with various types of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of public health and behavioral interventions or programs, health equity, and working with Black, Latino and other marginalized groups and aligned community organizations.
- REDCap familiarity and experience with Microsoft applications and project management software.
- Must be able and willing to drive to meet partners in Detroit, Flint, and other parts of Michigan.
Be able to independently develop new collaborative relationships with community organizations and partners.
This is a half-time, term-limited position through March 2027. Extension of the position will be dependent on grant funding.
