Research Associate - Engineered Antiviral Resilience

We are seeking an enthusiastic, driven, and highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate who will thrive within our supportive culture of clinicians and scientists. This 4-year project led by Professor Thushan de Silva aims to develop a ground-breaking pan-viral prophylactic therapy by programming innate immunity within the nasal epithelium.

This job is part of an Advanced Research + Invention Agency-funded project.

You must hold a PhD in virology, immunology, or a related field, and possess extensive experience in both cell and viral culture. You are a dedicated team player with excellent communication skills and a desire to contribute to a world-leading research environment.

As the successful candidate, you will work at the cutting edge of cell biology, virology, and single-cell genomics. You will be responsible for generating complex cellular models of the human upper respiratory tract using Air-Liquid Interface (ALI) cultures and conducting sophisticated viral infection studies. Your work will involve characterizing cellular states through single-cell multiomic assays, such as scRNA-seq and scATAC-seq, to identify and engineer target cell states that exhibit maximum antiviral efficacy. This role offers a unique opportunity to translate fundamental biological insights into potential therapeutics while collaborating closely with world-class partners in the USA and the Netherlands.
