Job Description

We are seeking a talented Research Associate to join the National Centre for Engineering Biology, Singapore (NCEB), at the National University of Singapore. NCEB aims to advance engineering biology by developing microbial cells that enable biomanufacturing.

The Research Associate (RAssoc) will work closely with the Principal Investigator and the research team to conduct research that supports the translation of breakthrough engineering biology research. This role bridges cutting-edge scientific discovery and market applications, requiring both deep scientific expertise and commercial acumen.

Responsibilities:

1. Plan and conduct research in molecular biology and synthetic biology.
2. Maintain accurate experimental records; prepare datasets, figures, and summaries for meetings and project reviews.
3. Collaborate with scientists and engineers across interdisciplinary teams; support manuscript, report, and grant preparation where applicable.
4. Mentor early-career scientists in good research practices.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

1. Hold a Master's degree in Science, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a related field, e.g., a Master’s in Business Administration.
2. Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess technical data.
3. Exceptional communication skills to engage diverse audiences.
4. Demonstrated passion for empowering scientific innovation and supporting junior researchers.
