Research Associate Professor - Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Development
The Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPS) at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Houston invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Research Associate Professor position in the areas of pharmaceutical sciences and drug development.
The primary responsibility is to lead the efforts to develop collaborative grant proposals to the internal (division of research) and external funding agencies (NIH, CIPRIT etc.) in the areas of cancer prevention and therapy with a focus on colonic organoids developed from intestinal polyps, histology and histochemistry related to polyps, colon cancer models in rodent models; mechanisms of action of drug combinations to treat or prevent colon polyps and cancer.
The Research Associate Professor is expected to perform all duties described in the assigned projects, including but not limited to (1) preparing materials & proposals for submission to relevant granting agencies and foundations for external funding to advance lab’s research (2) preparing progress and final reports, conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data, attending grant related meetings; (3) preparing publications, reports and presentations, and presenting research at national and international meetings (4) supervising and/or mentoring other members of the grant team, including staff and graduate students, when required (5) building research collaborations to strengthen existing and expand new research capabilities.
Qualifications
PhD with 7 or more years of postdoctoral research experience in an academic setting and evidence of substantial experience in obtaining and maintaining animal/human studies protocols, writing successful grant proposals, and simultaneously interacting with and impacting multiple research projects. Strong academic and research credentials directly related to organoids, organoid development, organoid characterization, and evaluation of drugs using organoid models are highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology or other relevant fields with 7 or more years of postdoctoral research experience in an academic setting.
