Position Details

  • Based at Roseworthy Campus within The School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences
  • Part-time (0.6 FTE), fixed-term contract until 28 April 2027
  • Salary Range: $48,775 - $65,584 per annum pro rata (plus 17% superannuation)

Work that matters

The research associate will work collaboratively with colleagues to collect research data from sites across South Australia, to coordinate data collection across Australia. Working alongside senior researchers, the research associate will be responsible for collating large data sets, organising and analysing data sets and assisting with report writing. Where appropriate they will also be required to assist in the development of extension materials.

This position will contribute to advancing sheep production research that supports industry innovation and sustainability, delivering meaningful outcomes for producers and the wider agricultural sector.

The team

Working as part of a team of researchers, and under the guidance of the lead investigator Associate Professor William Van Wettere, the Research Associate will support and coordinate a national project focused on improving the reproductive performance of shedding sheep (sheep which shed their wool).

Experience

To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience:

  • Degree in animal/agricultural science or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in sheep production systems, including animal handling and data collection
  • Proficiency analysing complex datasets using R, Python, Excel or similar tools
  • Knowledge of Australian sheep production systems and related research areas
  • Ability to collaborate with industry stakeholders and communicate research outcomes
