Job Title: Research Associate (SEARCH)

Job Description

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting a full-time Research Associate for the Southeast Asia Regional Collaborative for Health (SEARCH). SEARCH is a regional knowledge network housed at SSHSPH, aiming to increase knowledge and capacity for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Southeast Asia.

The candidate will work primarily on projects involving healthcare financing, strategic purchasing, and UHC reform across the region.

Job Scope

  1. To lead research and project management tasks, including:
    • Lead research and project management initiatives, including the strategic planning of research and engagement activities.
    • Conduct mixed-methods data collection and analysis to support evidence-based health policy development.
    • Prepare high-quality project outputs, including peer-reviewed publications, technical policy reports, and web content.
    • Drive stakeholder engagement and oversee project timelines to ensure the timely completion of deliverables.
  2. To assist in organising policy engagement and knowledge events across Southeast Asia (virtual and in-person):
    • Lead engagement with regional health ministries, international partners, and funders, such as the Gates Foundation.
    • Coordinate with research partners in Singapore and across Southeast Asia to ensure collaborative progress and network cohesion.
    • Organise high-impact policy engagement and knowledge events, such as technical workshops and seminars, in both virtual and in-person formats.
  3. To lead on administrative research tasks (including ethics submissions, reporting to funders, progress tracking, etc.)
  4. To support the project director on other research projects related to SEARCH and other global health activities.
  5. To perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Requirements:

  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience in public health/global health policy
  • Experience in mixed-methods research
  • Project management and team coordination experience
  • Highly organised and able to work effectively under pressure, use independent judgment and produce quality work products within time constraints
  • Able to work independently as well as with a team.

The grade of appointment will be accorded based on candidate’s academic qualifications and years of relevant experience.
