About the role
The Faculty of History is seeking a Research Engagement Officer to join its Communications and Alumni Relations team.
The Research Engagement Officer is a new role providing support for all types of engagement with the Faculty’s research including impact, the research environment, and assisting research centres with publicity and events. The role will work as part of a small team and provide comprehensive, proactive, in-person communications and events support, planning and organising work to enable a range of communications and public engagement activities for the research endeavours of the Faculty of History.
Based in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, this role can be taken as a hybrid role, with a minimum of 60% in-person working within the Faculty offices. Some limited evening and weekend work will be required.
About you
We're looking for someone who has proven experience working in a communications and events related role, preferably with experience in a higher education or heritage setting.
You will have proven experience in planning and coordinating a variety of events, including evaluation of outcomes in relation to research impact with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality delivery. As well as experience producing content for social media platforms (particularly Instagram, Facebook and Bluesky) with an understanding of analytic data analysis (including Google Analytics), and good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt style and tone to suit a range of audiences (including academic researchers, funding bodies and the general public).
An understanding of the humanities research environment, experience in a higher education environment, or a qualification in Digital Marketing would be desirable.
