Job Description
This position supports Work Package 1 (WP1) experimental studies of wave overtopping over Singapore-relevant coastal protection structures for local design guidance.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Conduct scaled physical model tests at NUS for revetments, promenades, and vertical walls
- Measure and analyse q, Vmax, flow depth/velocity, crest pressures, and related loads; quantify uncertainty; and derive local empirical relationships aligned with EurOtop
- Support WP1 reports/publications and provide validation data and hydraulic inputs to other work packages.
Job Requirements
- Possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Masters degree will be preferred.
- Strong background in physical modelling of coastal/free-surface flows or wave-structure interaction.
- Experience with hydraulic laboratory experiments, instrumentation, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar; prior wave overtopping/coastal structures experience is advantageous.
- Has prior strong publication records and independence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Open to fixed-term contract.
