Research Fellow (Advanced Electron Microscopy for Catalysts)

Job Description

We are seeking a Research Fellow specializing in advanced electron microscopy to elucidate structure–property relationships in heterogeneous and electrocatalysts. The role involves in situ/operando (S)TEM imaging and spectroscopy to track active-site evolution, phase transformations, and degradation under realistic reaction environments, in close collaboration with synthesis and catalysis teams. The fellow will lead data-driven interpretation linking atomic-scale structure to performance and stability, contribute to publications and grant deliverables, and help develop new microscopy workflows for catalyst design.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field; within 2 years post-PhD at the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated strong track record in advanced electron microscopy (e.g., in situ/operando (S)TEM, STEM-EDS/EELS, atomic-resolution imaging), evidenced by high-quality publications.
  • Proven research experience in heterogeneous or electrocatalysis, with clear contributions to structure–property–performance correlations.
  • Highly self-motivated and independent, with a strong sense of ownership and ability to drive projects from concept to publication.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality scientific publications in leading peer-reviewed journals.
