Job Description

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for one (1) Research Fellow position in coastal protection research. The candidate is expected to work in investigating the use of data and imagery to monitor the coastal environment. Other responsibilities can include:

  • Lead the design, planning, and implementation of UAV-based remote sensing research in a coastal location.
  • Design and conduct physics-based hydrologic modelling and hydraulic simulation in the coastal environment.
  • Conduct field experiments in the coastal environment to collect good quality data.
  • Manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects, including timelines, budgets, regulatory compliance, reporting, and vendor/partner coordination.
  • Develop custom software for data integration and visualization of simulation outputs.
  • Summarize research findings in high-quality research presentation and reports.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a PhD in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related disciplines.
  • Strong interest in research work, field surveys, and site supervision.
  • Experience in performing imagery data acquisition and field measurement related works with unmanned aerial vehicles, particularly in coastal environments is preferred.
  • Experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling is preferred.
  • Possession of an Unmanned Aircraft Pilot License (UAPL) to operate multi-rotor unmanned aircrafts from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, is preferred.
  • Strong written and spoken communication.
  • Open to a fixed-term contract.
