Job Description
- This project is related to the development of a laser-based flow tagging method for high-speed flows. The method is based on dissociation of nitrogen molecules (typically present in air) and observing the motion of these recombining atoms to infer the flow speed using an ultrashort pulse laser. It therefore does not require and particle tracers.
- The selected candidate is expected to conduct experiments to characterize both the performance of the diagnostic from a fluid mechanics and plasma physics standpoint, and also to demonstrate its use in a high-speed wind tunnel facility
Qualifications
PhD in Fluid Mechanics, Aerodynamics, Applied Physics, Plasma Physics, or related field. Experience in laser-based diagnostics and/or machine learning approaches is strongly preferred.
