Research Fellow (Human Potential TRP)

Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow in the Human Potential Translational Research Programme (HPTRP), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The HPTRP brings together researchers from a wide range of disciplines with an interest to maximise human potential. In HPTRP, we aim to adopt a holistic perspective that considers human potential as an integrative measure of health, productivity, performance, human capital and overall well-being over the lifespan, in our environment. Appointments will be made on two-year contract, with the possibility of further extension.

Purpose of the post

The Research Fellow will join a programme of research investigating how cultural contexts and family socialisation shape children's and adolescents' social-emotional and cognitive development. Using longitudinal designs, the project examines parent–adolescent communication in Singaporean families, with a particular focus on translating empirical findings into evidence-based interventions that promote adolescent psychosocial well-being amid rapidly advancing AI technologies. The lab maintains an active collaboration with Singapore's largest prospective birth cohort study, Growing Up in Singapore Towards Healthy Outcomes (GUSTO), offering access to rich, nationally relevant developmental data.

This fellowship provides substantial opportunities for new PhDs seeking significant experience, mentorship, and networking, as well as close collaboration with the Principal Investigators and considerable involvement in authorship of abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts.

Main duties and responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  1. Working closely with the PI and research team to develop new research ideas, write up and present project proposals.
  2. Designing research protocols, drafting ethics applications, planning data collection strategies, guided by literature reviews and best practices.
  3. Recruiting, leading, and training teams comprising Research Assistant(s), Undergraduate, and Graduate Students, in the conduct of developmental research.
  4. Establishing and managing research databases.
  5. Rigorous data analyses and interpretation of data.
  6. Generating reports and high-quality publications for presentation to stakeholders and submission to top tier journals.
  7. Present research findings at national and international conferences.
  8. Leading a team comprising Research Assistant(s) and Students in the conduct of laboratory- and field-based research studies.
  9. Maintaining the highest standard of professional conduct and record-keeping in accordance with policies and procedures.
  10. Perform research duties (e.g., administration and accounting, maintain budgets, submit reimbursement requests) as delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

The applicant should have:

  • A Ph.D. in developmental psychology, developmental cognitive neuroscience, or a related discipline
  • Research experience in early cognitive development / implementation science
  • Teaching experience is preferred but not necessary
  • Excellent statistical abilities with demonstrated proficiency in statistical language (e.g., Stata, R)
  • Applied research skills in methodological development and data analysis
  • Strong organizational, interp
