Research Fellow in Biology

About the Role

As a Research Fellow in Laboratory and Computational Systems Biology Cancer Research you will lead the delivery of cutting-edge interdisciplinary research project that combines computational systems biology and laboratory science to better treat cancers. You will work independently to lead a project funded by Leukaemia UK, produce high quality academic publications, and share your work nationally and internationally at conferences.

You will work in a growing blood cancer research team at BSMS and be part of Sussex Blood Cancer Research alongside clinical academic colleagues and laboratory researchers at BSMS and the University of Sussex. Ideally, you will have run computational biology simulations or have coding experience that you are keen to apply to address stubborn medical challenges. You will achieve this by integrating published datasets with new results. You will have familiarity with laboratory techniques required to study cancer biology and molecular signalling including flow cytometry, Western blotting, drug-response assays, and experience with or willingness to learn immunofluorescence imaging, gene expression analysis, and in vivo work.

You will have the ability to multi-task, and plan multiple experiments, while performing computational analysis between experiments.

You will be able to communicate clearly across disciplines, being able to communicate effectively with laboratory scientists, computational biologists, clinicians, and non-expert audiences.
