About the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT)

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and to build devices based on quantum phenomena. Experts in this new discipline of quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications, and sensing.
CQT is hosted by the National University of Singapore. The Centre also has staff at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. With some 200 staff and students, it offers a friendly and international work environment.

Job Description

We are looking for a talented and motivated Research Fellow to join our research in integrated quantum and nonlinear photonics. The project aims to develop integrated quantum light sources based on thin-film lithium niobate platform. Main device components to be developed include on-chip photon-pair and squeezed-light sources, and electro-optic switches.

This position will be hosted by Asst. Prof. Di ZHU’s group at the Centre for Quantum Technologies, National University of Singapore (NUS). Successful candidates will be involved in, but not limited to, the following activities:

  • Design and fabricate integrated photonic devices
  • Perform optical and electrical characterization of integrated photonic devices
  • Assist in mentoring graduate students
  • Regularly disseminate research results through reports, presentations, and manuscripts

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree (completed or soon to be completed) in Physics, Applied Physics, Material Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant areas
  • Knowledge in integrated photonics, quantum optics, and microwave engineering
  • Experience in nano/micro-fabrication is highly desired
  • Programming skills (e.g., Python, Matlab)
  • Ability to work as a team and communicate effectively
