Research Fellow in Nucleic Acids Research
Join Dr Ludovica Monti’s team as a Research Fellow and apply your chemistry expertise to explore alternative DNA structures in bacterial pathogens. In this role, you will contribute to innovative research on antimicrobial mechanisms, with opportunities to achieve high-impact outcomes in both fundamental and translational science. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment, enhance your research skills, and have the chance to publish in high-impact journals while working at the exciting interface of chemistry and biology.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct Innovative Research: Drive research projects exploring alternative DNA structures in bacterial pathogens and their role in antimicrobial mechanisms.
- Publish and Present Findings: Contribute to high-quality academic publications, present your work at seminars and conferences, and help disseminate research outcomes to the wider scientific community.
- Support Grant Applications: Assist in, or take the lead on, preparing research proposals for internal and external funding opportunities.
- Mentor and Supervise: Support the training and co-supervision of research students at all levels, from undergraduate through to PhD.
You may be a great fit if: You are a passionate chemist with a strong research background, eager to apply your expertise to biological systems and explore the dynamic intersection of chemistry and infectious diseases within an interdisciplinary research environment.
You may also: Have completed or are near completion of a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related discipline. Possess strong expertise in synthetic chemistry and/or medicinal chemistry. Have experience or interest in DNA biology, genomics, or microbiology. Demonstrate a strong publication record and aptitude for research, relative to your experience. Excel in both independent work and collaborative team environments. Have excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor junior researchers and students.
