Job Description
The successful candidate will work with Dr Gloryn Chia on translational cancer immunotherapy under a project on Development of Immunotherapy Targets for Treatment-Resistant Cancers.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
- Leading the design and execution of independent research projects investigating tumour–immune interactions and immune evasion mechanisms
- Establishing and optimising in vitro and in vivo experimental platforms, including advanced immune functional assays and mouse tumour models
- Driving molecular engineering efforts (e.g., CRISPR-based gene editing, vector design, cellular engineering)
- Performing deep immunophenotyping and mechanistic studies to validate therapeutic targets
- Analysing complex datasets and integrating findings into cohesive mechanistic insights
- Preparing high-impact manuscripts, contributing to grant applications, and presenting findings at international conferences
- Mentoring graduate students and research assistants in experimental design and technical execution
- Ensuring rigorous documentation, reproducibility, and compliance with institutional safety and regulatory standards
Qualifications
Qualifications / Discipline:
- PhD in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a closely related biomedical discipline
- Demonstrated track record of research productivity, including peer-reviewed publications
Skills:
- Strong expertise in advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques
- Proficiency in designing and executing complex in vitro and in vivo experiments
- Experience with immune functional assays, multi-parameter flow cytometry, and genetic engineering approaches (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9)
- Strong data analysis skills and ability to interpret mechanistic findings independently
- Excellent scientific writing and presentation skills
- Ability to lead projects independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment
Experience:
- Substantial research experience in cancer immunology, tumour–immune interactions, or related translational research areas
- Hands-on experience with mouse tumour models and immune profiling is highly desirable
- Experience in mentoring junior researchers or students is advantageous
- Prior involvement in manuscript preparation and competitive grant writing is preferred
