Job Description

At NUS, we are at the forefront of clean energy innovation, focusing on advanced technologies for sustainable hydrogen production.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Power Electronics Scientist to lead the design, modelling, control, and experimental validation of advanced power conversion systems for hydrogen production (electrolyzers), fuel cell integration, and hydrogen separation processes.

The candidate should be able to :

  • Design and develop high-efficiency DC-DC and DC-AC converters for electrolyzers and fuel cell systems
  • Develop advanced control strategies for grid-connected and standalone hydrogen systems
  • Perform modelling and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink and PLECS
  • Build and test laboratory prototypes of hydrogen-integrated power systems
  • Support R&D activities including publications and patent development
  • Optimizing of membranes for hydrogen separation, purification, and production applications.
  • Support cross-functional teams in the integration of membranes into hydrogen production units.

Qualifications

  • Is open to fixed term contract
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Material Engineering, or related fields with a focus on hydrogen generation technology.
  • Proven experience in power electronics design and development
  • Strong expertise in power electronics (DC-DC, DC-AC converters)
  • Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Understanding of electrolyzers and fuel cells and Hydrogen production systems
  • Excellent track record of publications or patents
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on experimental mindset
  • Ability to work across disciplines (electrical + chemical + systems)
