Job Description

Applications are invited for the following full-time position in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health:

Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow in Programme Evaluation

The Health Intervention and Policy Evaluation Research Centre (HIPER) (https://hiper.nus.edu.sg/) at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), NUS, is seeking to hire an individual with relevant skillset and experience to lead and support the work in the area of programme evaluation and health services research.

The individual will play a critical role in anchoring the Centre’s Programme Evaluation Unit (Health Services) that will be servicing the Ministry of Health. The individual will contribute to the Centre’s research agenda to support programme evaluation and health services research in Singapore, gaining the opportunity to work with leading experts, policy makers, and programme implementers in the field. They will be expected to perform research administration, conduct formative and evaluation-driven research, and disseminate findings.

The role will require a highly motivated and capable team-player who can engage with incoming briefs and help shape and construct deliverables in a timely manner. As a researcher of the Centre, they will be presented with various opportunities to further develop their skills and experience to ensure personal growth in their career. The role benefits from exposure to many areas of public health ranging from evaluations of patient reported outcomes and experiences to evaluating national strategic plans. This will engage the individual in building professional networks across multiple agencies in Singapore and possibly overseas.

The successful candidate will join an active and supportive team that enjoys working together collaboratively, problem solving in creative and effective manner, and efficiently delivering theory-driven yet applied, practical outputs that will improve population health outcomes.

Requirements:

Applicants are expected to have a doctoral degree from an established University, preferably in public health, health sciences, social sciences, or statistics, with advanced quantitative research skills and strong understanding of Singapore’s health system and landscape.

The grade of appointment will be accorded based on qualifications and work experience.

Applicants with following experiences and skills are preferred:

  • Experience leading and managing health services research and evaluation projects
  • Experience conducting quantitative research, including design and collection of survey data, processing and analysis of large data sets, and other quantitative methods / data
  • (optional) Experience conducting qualitative research, including design and conducting of focus groups and interviews, analysis and interpretation of qualitative data, and other qualitative methods / data
  • Experience with overall project management, including ethics applications, project budget, institution administration processes, and junior staff team management
  • Driven, collaborative, independent, and flexible
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-organised and meticulous
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
