Research Fellow (Si Photonics; Tunable Modulators for Waveguide Photonics; MEMS Resonators)

Job Description

Work on hands-on experiments for few of the following tasks:

  1. Design, Simulation, and Fabrication of Si Photonics such as Near IR/Mid IR Si photonics; Near IR/Mid IR Photodetectors; Si photonics modulators; Nano-opto-mechanical resonators
  2. Fabrication of integrated photonics based on CMOS compatible process
  3. Fabrication of plasmonics based nanophotonics structures using e-beam lithography
  4. Design and testing of photonics devices for biomedical related applications and environment monitoring related applications
  5. Design, modelling and testing of photonic neural networks (PNN) using Si Photonics
  6. Write 2 or more research papers based on derived data of the above devices in the first year in the top-notch journals
  7. Write research grant proposals
  8. Supporting and guiding the experiments of MSc students

Qualifications

  1. Possess a PhD degree
  2. Have learned NEMS/MEMS or Si Photonics related courses for one semester at post-graduate level and earned score of A- or better.
  3. Strong background in hands-on microfabrication techniques at clean room and with journal publications showing such evidences
  4. With 3 years and more experience in making and testing guided-wave based photonics devices
  5. With 2 year and more working experience in MEMS and Photonics design
  6. Strong knowledge in L-Edit; Lumerical; CST; COMSOL; ANSYS;
  7. Strong communication skills (spoken and written)
  8. Having more than 3 1st-authored international peer-reviewed journal papers (for RF)
