Research Fellow (Soft Electronics and Wearable Systems), DID

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join our lab in exploring the design, development, and applications of intelligent textiles and soft electronics. Our research integrates material science, digital fabrication, hardware systems, artificial intelligence, and computational design to advance smart textiles and wearable systems for various applications, including health and well-being, human-computer interaction, robotics, interactive media, and immersive environments.

We are looking for candidates specializing in the following topics:

Soft/Textile Electronics

  • Research and develop flexible and soft electronics for integration into textiles, wearables, and electronic skin, including tactile sensors, actuation, and haptic devices.
  • Advance digital knitting, weaving, embroidery, sewing, and other textile-based fabrication techniques.
  • Characterize and evaluate electromechanical properties of soft systems.
  • Use simulation tools for design and modeling.
  • Implement and test developed devices for various applications.

Embedded Systems & Hardware Development

  • Design and develop miniaturized hardware systems for seamless integration of sensors, actuators/haptics, and computing into textiles and wearables.
  • Develop and optimize embedded systems, including firmware development.
  • Implement and test wireless and wired communication for distributed networks.
  • Apply AI/ML and deep learning techniques for analyzing dense multimodal data in real time.
  • Integrate system-level solutions for interfacing with computers, smartphones, or AR/VR technologies.
