We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work in the laboratories of Prof Brendan Wren as part of a BBSRC/DEFRA consortium using glycoengineering to develop and produce veterinary vaccines. The new appointee will work as part of a team to use glycoengineering develop Brucella, Strep suis , GBS and Mycoplasma glycoconjugate vaccines for a range of livestock. The post-holder will join a vaccine research team of ten staff at the LSHTM. The post-holder will have an opportunity to contribute to publications in high impact international scientific journals and be part of a wider consortium in UK, Africa and Asia that uses a Holistic Approach to Veterinary Vaccine Applications (HoVVA). The successful applicant will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic, expertise in molecular biology and glycoengineering, expertise in vaccinology and vaccine design, proven ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a research team, and proven ability to meet research deadlines.
