Job Description Summary
PET Center in the Radiology Department at PSOM directed by the Assistant Professor Mark Sellmyer, MD. PhD conducts cutting edge research from tool development to clinical assay. With the vision of expanding the scope of the research carried out at the PET Center. this Senior Research Investigator position is needed to create a new position that will serve as the lead of the new Translational Biology Lab (TBL). The function of the TBL would be carrying out the in vitro and in vivo studies necessary to advance new PET diagnostic tools and new radiotherapeutics into FDA approval for clinical studies. Lead multiple projects in the space of nuclear medicine, theranostic and radiotherapeutics, molecular biology, cancer immunotherapy.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Translational Biology Lab. ensuring a well-organized, high quality, and compliant research environment while supporting the PET Center's translational mission.
- Train and supervise personnel in molecular biology methods including PCR, cloning, Western blotting, viral vector production. cell transduction, radiotracer uptake assays. LNP assays, ELISA assays. CART cell assays and flow cytometry.
- Train personnel in conducting in vivo studies such as generating rodent models, performing rodent PET scans, and assessing toxicity.
- Perform molecular biology assays and cell-based studies directly and animal studies.
- Lead multiple complex research projects in nuclear medicine. molecular imaging. radiotheranostics, cancer immunotherapy, and related translational fields, coordinating experimental workflows, priorities, and resources.
- Analyze data, prepare research reports. develop manuscripts and contribute to grant applications.
- Maintain the laboratory. including equipment oversight, inventory. and ensuring adherence to laboratory safety and compliance guidelines.
- Develop and maintain collaborations with investigators across the University of Pennsylvania and with external partners to support the advancement of PET diagnostics and radiotherapeutics.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the PET Center's scientific and operational goals.
- Position is Contingent upon Grant Funding
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy, and 5 to 7 years of postdoctoral experience is required.
