Research Program Coordinator
Advertised Job Summary
The Research Program Coordinator will work closely with the faculty principal investigator, Dr. Jessica Klusek, and grant-funded staff to support and coordinate research on aging in women with fragile X-associated conditions (e.g., fragile X premutation and fragile X syndrome). This role will oversee day-to-day research operations, including coordination of participant assessments and scheduling.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a clinical or human subjects research setting
- Experience administering standardized behavioral, cognitive, or language-based assessments
- Familiarity with REDCap or other research data management systems
- Experience training, mentoring, or supervising students or research assistants
- Interest in neurodevelopmental disorders, aging, or women’s health research
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, research staff, and graduate and undergraduate students
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and sensitively with research participants and their families, including those from clinical populations
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate schedules and manage multiple priorities
- Ability to take initiative, work both independently and collaboratively, and adapt to evolving research needs
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards for data quality and protocol adherence
- Ability to train, supervise, and support research assistants in study procedures and protocols
Job Duties
Participant Coordination (35%)
- Recruit, screen, enroll, and schedule research participants in coordination with study team members
- Coordinate participant logistics, including travel arrangements and visit scheduling
- Support recruitment and retention efforts, including preparation of study communications
- Maintain accurate records of participant contacts and scheduling activities
Assessment & Data Collection (25%)
- Administer standardized and experimental assessments to study participants
- Prepare for assessment visits, including scheduling, assembling materials, and communicating with participants
- Conduct post-assessment activities, including scoring, data entry, and data quality checks
- Summarize assessment results and contribute to participant feedback reports
- Participate in occasional travel within the United States to support data collection efforts
Training & Support (25%)
- Train and onboard new research staff and student assistants on study protocols and lab procedures
- Monitor adherence to protocols and provide ongoing guidance and support to research team members
- Collaborate with the principal investigator and research team to ensure consistent implementation of study procedures
Research Coordination (15%)
- Support overall study coordination, including data management (e.g., REDCap), regulatory compliance (IRB), and documentation
- Assist with the preparation of reports for families, collaborators, and funding agencies
- Coordinate with internal and external collaborators to support study activities
