Research Project Manager, EIDOS, School of Nursing

Job Description Summary

The Research Project Manager will oversee and manage a portfolio of health equity research and innovation initiatives within the Eidos LGBTQ+ Health Initiative. Projects focus on sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations and other communities disproportionately affected by health inequities, with an emphasis on advancing scalable, equity-centered solutions.

The Research Project Manager will support funded initiatives that examine behavioral, social, and structural determinants of health; develop and test digital and community-based interventions; and translate evidence into practice using user-centered design, participatory methods, and implementation science frameworks. In addition to traditional research coordination, this role contributes to the operationalization of innovation pilots, partnership engagement, and dissemination efforts across academic and non-academic audiences.

This position requires strong project management, community engagement, and research operations skills. The Project Manager will work with substantial independence and will be responsible for regulatory compliance, participant recruitment and retention, data collection and management, coordination across interdisciplinary teams, and engagement with community and institutional partners. The role supports the efficient execution and scalability of initiatives within a fast-paced, cross-sector innovation environment.

  • Liaise with Penn IRB, DSMBs (if applicable), and funding agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare progress reports and contribute to impact summaries for sponsors and internal stakeholders.
  • Support operational planning for pilot implementation and scalability across initiatives.

Participant Recruitment & Community Engagement

  • Oversee recruitment strategies tailored to SGM communities and other key populations.
  • Maintain partnerships with community-based organizations, clinics, and institutional collaborators.
  • Ensure culturally responsive, affirming, and equity-centered research practices.
  • Monitor recruitment metrics and implement adaptive strategies as needed to meet benchmarks.

Data Collection & Management

  • Oversee survey administration, qualitative interviews, focus groups, and digital intervention implementation.
  • Manage REDCap or other electronic data capture systems, including digital engagement tracking where applicable.
  • Ensure data quality control, protocol fidelity, and documentation standards across initiatives.
  • Coordinate data cleaning and preparation for analysis and dissemination.

Supervision & Training

  • Provide day-to-day oversight and training for Research Assistants, student workers, and/or Community Health Workers.
  • Develop SOPs and ensure adherence to study protocols.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks and provide performance feedback as appropriate.

Analysis & Dissemination Support

  • Assist with literature reviews, abstract and manuscript preparation.
  • Prepare conference materials and community-facing dissemination products.
  • Support translation of findings into implementation guidance, policy briefs, or stakeholder reports.
  • Support grant submissions through preparation of preliminary data and research materials.

Administrative & Fiscal Support

  • Track project expenditures and assist with budget monitoring across initiatives.
  • Coordinate contracts, MOUs, and subaward documentation as needed.

This position is contingent upon the availability of funding.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, Sociology, Epidemiology, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in health behavior research or public health research coordination.
  • Experience working with SGM populations and/or communities impacted by sexual health disparities strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience managing NIH- or foundation-funded research projects preferred.
  • Experience supporting implementation or digital health initiatives preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with REDCap, Qualtrics, or similar data systems.
