Job Summary
The Silveira lab is looking for a Research Science Associate II
to contribute to our research in neuroscience. This full-time,
grant-funded position involves conducting experiments, analyzing
data, onboarding new trainees, and supporting lab management. The
role also includes supervising student researchers and
collaborating across teams.
Candidates should be prepared to work on campus.
This is a grant-funded position, which may be
extended or shortened based upon availability of funds and/or
work.
Core Responsibilities
- Contributes to the management of the laboratory, including
placing orders and preparing solutions.
- Successfully and independently acquire electrophysiology
data.
- Successfully perform data analysis and interpretation of
results.
- Manages and genotypes the mouse colony.
- Assists other team members in their projects.
- Trains new personnel in the laboratory.
- Keeps accurate records.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Vocational Training, or Apprenticeship in
a related field.
- Three (3) years of related work experience.
- Additional education may substitute for experience on a one
year for one year basis.
- This position may require the ability to maintain the security
and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas
EO-GA-48.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or PhD in Neuroscience or a related
field.
- Worked with animal models in a lab environment.

motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Reaching overhead, at or below shoulder level.
This position will work primarily on campus.
Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
